ABOUT ME

For 40+ years, I have publically advocated as a life insurance broker and more recently advocated for people to find insurance who lived with challenging medical issues.

With this background knowledge and experience, my vocation today is helping people through the claims process for the following claims:

• Life Insurance

• Income Protection

• Trauma

• TPD (Total & Permanent Disablement)

Qualifications and Experience

I am qualified by examination as a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU).  I'm a Life Member and Past National President of the Institute of Financial Advisers (IFA), and a past member of the Australasian Life Underwriters and Claims Association (ALUCA).

During the periods of 1984-2001 I was very active in the life industry affairs, which included:

• Industry adviser in 1984 in the High Court - David Martin vs. Life Underwriters Association of NZ

• National President 1985-86

• National Ethics & Practice Member and Chair 1987-2000

In 2001 I founded Special Risk Insurance, an insurance brokerage specializing in assisting people to find insurance who had medical, occupational or pastime issues.  Soon afterwards I also realised there was a need to assist some people with negotiating their claims.  I sold my interests in this business in 2015.

I am a co-founder of Life-Info Limited (www.life-info.org.nz) an independent and not-for-profit organisation to help the NZ public better understand life insurers' products.
